Course Code: U1918
We shall be exploring the years from the great Depression till the day a complete unknown from the now defunct USSR named Uri Gagarin became the first man in space. These thirty years cover the period of time that the majority of the current members were born and grew up, so it will not only be a diverse historical journey but a nostalgic trip down memory lane, a time we fondly remember before the internet, smart phones and global warming. We will be concentrating largely on the key events in and around Australia that helped shape the nation as we know it today. These events will be set in the broader context of what else was happening in other parts of the world at the same time which had an influence on our lives, such as World War Two.
